Today marks the 5^th “Huzhou Ecological Civilization Day”. On this day in 2005, Xi Jinping, who was secretary of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee at that time, inspected the YuCun of Anji County, delivering the scientific thesis that “Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”(abbreviated as “two mountains” concept in Chinese) for the first time. On Feb.11, 2015, General Secretary Xi urged our city to persist in the thesis for development when he met with representatives of the National Military in the Chinese New Year Symposium. In the past 14 years, the whole city has kept in mind the speeches of General Secretary Xi Jinping, unswervingly implemented the "two mountains" concept and constantly expanded the transformation channel, gradually creating a sustainable development path of "beautiful ecology, green industry and rich people". In 2015-2018, the city’s GDP increased to 271.9 billion yuan from 63.9 billion yuan, an average annual growth rate of 10%. The per capita GDP grew by 9.2% annually to 90,304 yuan from 23,197 yuan. The general financial revenue and local financial revenue went up to 49.07 billion yuan and 28.71 billion yuan from 7.42 billion yuan and 3.97 billion yuan respectively, with an annual increase of 15.6% and 19%. Successively, our city has become the first prefectural demonstration zone of ecological civilization around the country, the first national demonstration city of ecological civilization construction and the national innovation base for the “two mountains” concept. In the first half of this year, the regional GDP increased by 8.1% year on year, ranking third in the province, as well as the fixed investments, with its year-on-year increase of 10.6%; the general fiscal revenue and local fiscal revenue top the province with their year-on-year increase of 20.4% and 23.7% respectively. Since the 14 years, the “two mountains” concept has spread the whole province, the country and the world from our city, fully displaying its great power of truth and practice.
