Yesterday morning, the shooting competition of the Hangzhou Asian Games commenced at the Yinhu Sports Center in Fuyang District, Hangzhou. In the Women's 10-meter Air Rifle Team Competition, Han Jiayu, a competitor from Changxing County, Huzhou, together with her teammates, won the championship with a total score of 1896.6 points. In the subsequent Women's 10-meter Air Rifle InPidual Final, Han won the silver medal with an outstanding performance, scoring 251.3 points.
Han Jiayu, born in 2001, has developed a strong interest in shooting ever since her childhood. She studied successively at Changxing No. 6 Primary School, Longshan Middle School, and Jinling Senior High School. In July 2013, she joined the shooting team of Huzhou and received training there to be a professional rifle athlete. In December 2018, Han Jiayu was sent to provincial shooting team for more systematical and professional training.
In 2021, Han Jiayu has been selected for the women's 10-meter air rifle team in Group 2 of the national shooting team. She and her teammates won the gold medal in the women's 10-meter air rifle event of the National Shooting Championships and the 14th National Games Shooting Competition.
This year, Han won the gold medal in the women's 10-meter air rifle event of the ISSF World Cup held in Baku. Last month, at the 2023 World Shooting Championships held in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, she won the inPidual gold medal in the women's 10-meter air rifle event, securing the second seat for the Chinese team in the 10-meter air rifle event at the Paris Olympics. She became the first champion in the history of Huzhou in shooting world championships.
Zhejiang Province has long been doing particularly well in shooting, with commendable results achieved in previous competitions. Next, Han Jiayu will participate in the inPidual events of women's 50-meter rifle in three positions and the team events of 50-meter rifle in three positions.
