The newly-built east zone stands at the heart of the city of Huzhou, which encompasses Balidian Town, Huanzhu Town and Zhili Town. This zone covers a total area of 183 square kilometers. The urban planning area amounts to 90 square kilometers, which is composed of 46 square kilometers central area, 32 square kilometers Zhili area, 8.3 square kilometers Huanzhu area and 3.7 square kilometers food-processing industrial park. Up to now, construction work for 28.3 square kilometers of the central area have been completed, with the overall layout featuring one core(Central Business Complex), two axis (Wuxing Street and South Taihu Avenue) and three platforms (tourism platform, industrial platform and trade platform). Guided by the strategy of building Wuxing into an ecological, civilized, harmonious and beautiful district, the whole construction work is now in full swing. 3.6 billion RMB has been invested and a batch of infrastructure facilities have been set up and put into use. Wuxing Street and South Taihu Avenue are now open to traffic. In Balidian Town, a new rural community covering a total area of 640 thousand square meters has been built and 9600 farmers have been comfortably relocated. The rapid growth of the east zone has made it into a major platform for opening wider to the outside world, coordinating urban and rural development and upgrading the advanced manufacturing industry.
