
Guzhu Tea Culture Scenic Area is located in Guzhu Village and Jinshan Village, Shuikou Town, Changxing County. It is well-known because it is where Lu Yu of Tang Dynasty (the Sage of Tea) finished the world’s first comprehensive treatise on tea—Cha Jing (The Classic of Tea). It is also famous for Zisun Tea (The purple bamboo shoot tea) and Jinsha spring, two articles as tribute to the royal court in the Tang Dynasty Guzhu Mountain, which is 355 meters high, neighbors mountains to the west and Tai Lake to the east. The climate is warm and wet, and the fertile soil here is suitable for the growth of tea. Zhang Wengui, Governor or Huzhou in the Tang Dynasty, once said, “Tea here is among the best”. Lu Yu and Lu Guimeng once built tea gardens and studied tea culture. Lu Yu wrote Guzhu Mountain Records, and this mountain is also one of the main places for him to write The Classic of Tea. It is the main place for Lu Yu engaging in tea study and is regarded as the birthplace of Chinese tea culture. The scenic area mainly includes The Tribute Tea House, Bawang Pool, Shousheng Temple, Wanggui Pavilion, Hutou Cliff, Zhuoshe Mountain these five scenic spots and Jinghui Pavilion and Jinshan Inscriptions. The central scenic area mainly includes Lu Yu Mountain Villa,Wanggui Pavilion, Jinsha Spring, Breeze Mansion, Zhenliu Pavilion, Xigong Pavilion, Mugua Hall, Puli Tea Garden and so on. The green hills, clean water, lush bamboos, and abundant tea resources have made it a best destination for people from home and abroad to trace Lu Yu and study the essence of tea culture.
