Recently, a special law enforcement action for the 2024 national summer maritime fishing moratorium was launched in Dongtou, Wenzhou City. The reporter learned that during the moratorium period in the East China Sea, Zhejiang will simultaneously launch a special law enforcement action on fishing moratorium, to implement the port-of-registry moratorium policy, strengthen daily patrols on ship positions, reinforce inspections on key targets, and enhance crackdowns on illegal activities at sea, so as to comprehensively eliminate maritime hazards. The action period is from May 1 to September 16.

The summer fishing moratorium is the best time for the ocean to rehabilitate and fish to breed and grow. As a major province of marine fisheries, Zhejiang has always attached great importance to summertime supervision on fishing, to maintain a strict maritime law enforcement, crack down on unregistered boat fishing, and strictly investigate illegal activities such as carrying and using prohibited fishing gear, engaging in trawl operations in disguised violation, cross regional and cross line operations, and illegally purchasing and transferring prohibited fishing catch.

Cross-province fishing vessels have always been a blind spot in fishing supervision. At the launching ceremony, Zhejiang took the lead in signing an inter-provincial cooperation agreement on fishery law enforcement, and forming a working mechanism with 10 other coastal provinces for resource sharing, information sharing and smooth cooperation, so as to work together to crack down on illegal fishing activities, handle emergencies and ensure the stability of fishery order.
