Recently, reporters learned from the Municipal Port and Shipping Management Center that in the first quarter of this year, Huzhou Port completed a port cargo throughput of 31.5851 million tons and an inland river container throughput of 258,500 TEUs. These two indicators ranked first among inland ports in the province, with year-on-year growth rates of 7.82% and 21.78% respectively.

Since the beginning of this year, at the Huzhou Shanggang Wharf under the Huzhou Transportation Group, the feeder vessel capacity during peak hours has increased from 30 to 40. "In the first quarter, the container throughput of the wharf reached 73,000 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 30%. Among them, the throughput in March was 30,000 TEUs, setting a new monthly record." Zhao Hongwei, the general manager of Huzhou Shanggang International Port Co., Ltd., introduced.

The leading position of Huzhou Ports is inseparable from the continuous improvement of the infrastructure network and the continuous enhancement of ship transport capacity. Data shows that there are currently 745 wharf berths in our city, with a total berth length of 41.36 kilometers and an annual berth throughput capacity of 164 million tons. Twelve major inland river container routes have been opened, attracting more than 20 ocean-going liner shipping companies to settle in. As of the end of March, the transport capacity of container ships and multi-purpose ships in the city reached 219 vessels and 12,428 TEUs, with year-on-year growth rates of 25.9% and 27.6% respectively. There are 3,600 registered and operating cargo ships in the local port, with a deadweight tonnage of 2.872 million tons, both ranking first among inland ports in the province.

In recent years, our city has built a thousand-ton-class waterway network and opened up the "golden waterway". Last year alone, a total of CNY1.099 billion was invested in water transport, and the container transport channel of the high-grade waterway network in northern Zhejiang (Huzhou section) was fully completed. In the first quarter of this year, the investment in the channel improvement project of upgrading the Dongzong Line Huzhou section from Class IV to Class III exceeded CNY110 million, and the cumulative investment in the project reached CNY1.277 billion. At the same time, projects such as the Phase III of Deqing Linhang Logistics Park, Anji Digital Logistics Port, and Jiuguan Port-adjacent Smart Logistics Park are accelerating, promoting the large-scale and intensive transformation of wharves.
