The Wushenmen sluice gate was closed on the Dongtiaoxi waterway yesterday as the continual heavy rainfall has caused widespread water level rises in the eastern plain river network of our city since the onset of the Meiyu (plum rain) season . To alleviate pressure on the eastern plains, floodgates along the Dongtiaoxi River, including Deqing Sluice, Luoshe Sluice, Jingshan Sluice, Wushenmen Sluice, and Nianyukou Sluice, have all been closed to hold back floodwaters.
