In recent days, at the Taihu Youfeng Youth Bazaar located in Chendugang Village, Taihu Lake Street, Changxing County, 18 brightly colored and uniquely shaped box shops have been arranged in a rhythmic layout, with vendors busy preparing a variety of delicacies.

Reporters observed clusters of stately camphor trees towering majestically in the parking area. “These camphor trees are approximately 50 years old, with robust trunks measuring over 30 centimeters in diameter. They were deliberately preserved,” explained Duan Xuezi. “Our survey identified more than 400 such trees. The project team held extensive discussions to ensure the road designs adapted to the trees’ presence, prioritizing the preservation of the area’s original ecosystem.”

Taihu Youfeng Youth Bazaar occupies 27 acres with a total investment of CNY10 million. The bazaar is divided into a waterfront leisure zone, a market district, and an eco-friendly parking area. Building on the existing spontaneous market, the project has created dedicated spaces such as a lakeside food street, a shaded camping area, a new theater named Youfeng Theater, waterfront lakeside cafes, and live music performances by the shore. “Currently, 33 stalls have set up shop in the market, providing employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for over 100 local and returning youths. It is expected to attract around 100,000 visitors annually,” said Jiang Yi.

As one of the key stops along the Taihu Lake Route 9, the Taihu Youfeng Bazaar integrates culture, leisure, and tourism by enhancing infrastructure and infusing entertainment elements, driving high-quality development in the cultural tourism sector. “By creating the Youfeng Youth Bazaar, we aim to encourage the youth to return to rural areas and engage in innovative ventures, generating local employment opportunities right at their doorstep," said Wu Yangyang, a member of the CPC Taihu Lake Street Working Committee.
