Round Table on Sustainable Development Held in Huzhou

Yesterday, the Round Table on Sustainable Development, organized by the Center for International Knowledge on Development (CIKD), was held in Huzhou. Wang Yi, Member of the Standing Committeeof the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), Member of the NPC Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection, and Vice Chairman of the National Committee of Experts on Climate Change, attended the event. Wang Jinzhao, Executive Deputy Director of CIKD, and Wu Zhiyong, Deputy Secretary of the Huzhou Municipal Committee, Head of Social Work, and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission, delivered speeches respectively.

Wu Zhiyong shared Huzhou’s practices and achievements in implementing the “Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains Are Invaluable Assets” concept and promoting sustainable development from four dimensions: comprehensive beauty, green transformation, ecological benefits for the people, and brand building. He stated that Huzhou will further advance the “Beautiful China, Dynamic Huzhou”practice and excel through pragmatic action and pioneering efforts, promote the high-quality development of an exemplary eco-civilized city, and strive to build Huzhou into an epitome, microcosm and classic exemplar of Beautiful China. He cordially invited all attending leaders and distinguished guests to frequently visit Huzhou—to discover, experience, and co-create the city’s beauty. He also extended a warm welcome to entrepreneurs worldwide to choose Huzhou as their investment destination, establish businesses here, and jointly seize the development opportunities for a brighter future.

The Round Table aimed to extensively compile practical case studies of corporate sustainable development, with a focus on strengthening the tripartitecollaboration among think tanks, local governments, and enterprises. During the session, representatives from both domestic and international enterprises conducted in-depth deliberations on implementing sustainable business practices.
