
The Wushu competition of the 5th Zhejiang Provincial Sports Congress recently concluded at the Xianju Civic Stadium in Taizhou, with the Huzhou team achieving excellent results of 3 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
The competition was hosted by the provincial government and co-organized by the Provincial Sports Bureau and the Taizhou Municipal Government. The event brought together 255 top martial arts athletes fromthe 11 prefecture-level cities across the province, forming 12 teams. They competed for championships in 33 individual events and 8 team events. At the provincial sports congress, the Huzhou delegation sent over 600 athletes. Among them, the Huzhou Wushu team, led by the Wuxing District Culture, Radio and Television and Sports Bureau, consists of 33 athletes selected from the Wuxing District Wushu Association.
Huzhou athletes delivered outstanding performances during the three-day event. Zhang Bin got the Huzhoudelegation off to a golden start on Day One, topping the podium in Tai Chi Chen-style 56-form with a winning score of 9.24 points. In the subsequent competitions, Tao Xinna secured another gold with a score of 8.76 in the Boat-boxing event. Guo Xiaoyan claimed silver in the Yang-style 40-form competition with 8.88 points, while Wu Sujiao earned another silver in Boat-boxing with a score of 8.71. When it comes to bronze medal winners, Wang Feng, Tao Xinna, and Lei Zhongxiao all made their mark. Notably, Lei Zhongxiao claimed two bronze medals single-handedly in both Boat-boxing and Nandao events.
The team events also yielded triumphant results for Huzhou. The Tai Chi Apparatus team, consisting of six athletes including Qian Ping, captured the gold medal with an outstanding score of 9.12 points. Meanwhile, a seven-member team including Zhang Bin earned silver in the "Eight Methods and Five Steps" event, achieving a remarkable 9.14-point performance.
