In 2012,  the industrial added value of Huzhou’s six characteristic industries increased by 21.42 billion yuan, with year-on-year growth of 22.3%, which accounts for 38.6% of the city’s total above-scale industrial added value, rising by 2.6% from 2011.It also accounts for 26.9% of the city’s total industrial added value, up by 0.3% from 2011. The scale effects of the six industries were obvious and achieved rapid growth.
　　The bio-pharmaceutical Industry
　　The bio-pharmaceutical industry now is an economic growth point with huge potential in Huzhou. It began in 1980s and laid a foundation for further development through years of efforts. At present, based on the production of the technology of fermentation engineering for pesticides, veterinary drugs and feed additives, Huzhou’s bio-pharmaceutical industry gradually progressed towards modern biopharmaceuticals and expanded the front fields in bio-pharmaceutical technology, biological diagnostic reagents and biological chip, genetically engineered drugs and stem cells and cell therapy etc. A complete bio-pharmaceutical industrial structure has been initially formed, which is made up of pharmaceutical biotechnology industry, industrial biotechnology industry, Chinese patent medicine and herbal pieces, chemical synthetic drugs and preparations, pharmaceutical adjuvants and medical dressings.

　　New energy sources refer to various forms of energy except for traditional energy, generally developed and utilized renewable energy sources on the basis of new technology, including solar energy, biomass energy, hydropower, wind energy, geothermal energy and tidal energy, as well as thermal circulation between the surface and deep ocean and so on. The hydrogen, methane and glycol ethers etc. are also included. In order to relieve the conflict of energy supply and demand, people developed new energy industries and sought to build a new, clean, safe and reliable sustainable energy systems while saving primary energy and adopting technologies that help reduce energy consumption. New energy industries have developed rapidly in recent years, with growth of the scale and improvement of technological innovation. In 2011, the Huzhou municipal party committee and government define that the focus should be put on cultivating and developing new energy industries in such four sectors as solar photovoltaic, new power battery, LED and new energy automobile. 

   Equipment Manufacturing Industry

   As one of the 3+3 key supported industry system of the city, equipment manufacturing industry is a strategic emerging industry our city focuses on. At present, the trend of industrial cluster is obvious. The industry has transformed itself from general-purpose equipment manufacturing to special-purpose equipment manufacturing, from unit equipment manufacturing to overall equipment manufacturing, and gradually formed an industry guided by numerical control machine tool and control system, elevator, heavy equipment parts, agricultural mechanic equipment, engineering machinery, energy conservation and environment protection and coating. As for the industrial distribution, it will have the initial framework of Wuxing large parts processing, Nanxun elevator industry, Huzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone water treatment equipment, Deqing and Changxing special purpose equipment and automobile accessory industry, Anji bamboo processing machinery and other specialty equipment industry blocks. What’s more, among them, Nanxun elevator industry is considered among the first batches of provincial industrial demonstration base in Zhejiang.

   Metallic Pipelines and Stainless Steel Industry

   Metallic pipelines and stainless steel industry is technology-intensive and capital-intensive industry with wide application and great market potential. With the development of nation and widening application, it’s a promising industry with huge potential. Our city’s metallic pipelines and stainless steel industry started in the 1980s and have developed quickly in recent years. Presently, it has become a key industry that supports the constant and rapid development of the city’s industry. Accordingly, Huzhou has become one of the key manufacturing bases of metallic pipelines and stainless steel in our country. This industry in our city features complete industrial chain and our products have found their way into high-temperature and high-pressure resistant, corrosion-resistant and high precision industrial pipelines that are applied in petroleum industry, chemical industry, power sector (including nuclear power). The industry has also formed a specialized industrial block of high-and-mid-end metallic pipelines and exerted great influence over this industry in the whole country.

   Special Textile Industry

   As a traditional competitive industry and a key livelihood industry in Huzhou, textile industry plays an important role in our economic development. Since the reform and opening up, the city’s textile industry has developed rapidly. To be specific, it has transformed from being led by silk products to a competitive industry featuring complete range, long industrial chain and extensive market coverage. Our goals are as follows: to accelerate the restructuring of the textile industry; to promote the industrial level; to enhance the innovation capacity and overall competitiveness; revitalize special textile industry and to realize the goal of transformation from speed type to efficiency type. Huzhou boasts a numbers of influential textile enterprises even as far as the whole nation is concerned, such as Mizuda, Dagang, Zhenbei, Mihuang, and Kingsafe.

   Wood Floor Industry

   As a significant portion of building material industry and an important material of building decoration industry, wood floor is closely related to people’s daily life. The city has formed the wood floor industrial cluster which centers around Nanxun District. The wood floor industrial cluster is one of the featured competitive industries in Huzhou City, characterized by high level of industry agglomeration, comparatively complete industry chain, and high market credit. Wood floor industry has become the name brand and the pillar of the economy in Nanxun District. As the famous specialized market in the whole nation, the thriving Nanxun wood floor market stimulates the rapid development of this industry and has paved a way which was labeled as “market-led industry and industry-driven market”. In our city, the wood floor products have been sold in 30 provinces and municipalities and more than 450 counties in the whole nation; our output has accounted for more than 35% of the national total, among which the output of solid wood floor occupies more than 60% of the national total. In 2006, Huzhou was awarded as the “Capital of China Solid Wood Floor” by China Forest Product Industry Association, and basically formed the market pattern that “Zhejiang turns out the best floor in China; Nanxun turns out the best floor in Zhejiang”.
